COSHOCTON − Every summer, Historic Roscoe Village partners with Clary Gardens, Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum, Pomerene artPARK and the Coshocton County District Library to bring children’s programming to the community. Each of these hour-long programs is based around the National Summer Reading Program theme, which this year is Adventure.

Each organization tailors their sessions to their own specialty. For Roscoe Village that means a big focus on history. So, far children that have attended programming have met a character actor portraying Harriet Tubman, learned about the history of tinsmithing and discovered the story of Ohio’s settlement and the country’s expansion into the west.

Along with the educational presentation, children also make a craft or participate in an activity related to each program’s topic. Still on the schedule in July is a picnic of different dishes highlighting the exchange of ingredients between the Old and New Worlds, a ride on the Monticello III canal boat and a nature scavenger hunt to go along with education on the construction of the Ohio and Erie Canal.

All programs attended count towards the Summer Stamp Card. Each session counts as one of the10 stamps required to turn in a card for one pool pass at Lake Park Aquatic Center or one movie ticket at Shelby Theaters. If interested, parents can register their children for the remaining Roscoe Village Programs at roscoevillage.com by clicking book now.
