Salida Weed Walk Teaches Locals About Local Plants
The Chaffee County Weed Department is partnering with the City of Salida to lead a weed identification walk tomorrow, July 24, at 5:30 pm. The walk will start at the Marvin Park parking lot off West Sackett Avenue, and will be about a mile round-trip. Participants should wear long sleeves and pants.
Owner-builder: Blair Meerfeld builds on his life in the Grants
Blair Meerfeld and I met at the “Old Men’s Breakfast,” in Moffat, several months ago. Blair gave off a gentle, friendly vibe making me want to get to know him. I discovered he is building his own home in the Grants. He has been getting lots of help from the guys at breakfast — both technical expertise and labor. Blair is apparently the kind of fellow that people just naturally want to help. He is the classic case of a guy getting by “with a little help from his friends.”
U.S. Army transfers first parcel of land at Pueblo Chemical Depot to PuebloPlex
The first parcel of land at the U.S. Army Chemical Depot site in Pueblo County recently transferred from federal to local ownership. More than 5,100 acres now belong to PuebloPlex, the agency charged with redeveloping the site that was used for chemical weapons storage and was more recently tasked with their destruction.
