Cottageville restaurant damaged in Wednesday fire

COTTAGEVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – A restaurant in Cottageville was damaged this week in what appeared to be an electrical-related fire.

Callers told 9-1-1 operators that they saw smoke coming from the roof of a business at 10476 Cottageville Highway around 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Crews with Colleton County Fire Rescue arrived to find smoke and flames coming from an exterior electrical box and weatherhead.

“Firefighter-Paramedics made entry through the front door and found smoke inside the structure. Two handlines were deployed to the building. All of the fire was contained to the area around the electrical service line,” said officials.

Power was disconnected from the building.

Fire-rescue officials said the business was closed at the time.
