Green McAdoo Cultural Center in Clinton presents "Building a Bright Future: Black Communities and Rosenwald Schools in Tennessee," a new traveling exhibition, on display Aug. 1-Sept. 13. Governor Visited YEP Participants at Buffalo River Resort
Governor Bill Lee was in Perry County last Friday, July 26, 2024, to visit Tennessee’s Youth Employment Program (YEP) participants at Buffalo River Resort which hired seventeen youth and young adults to work various jobs during the peak summer vacation season. Gov. Lee met with the resort’s owners, talked with YEP participants, and saw firsthand the positive impact YEP has on Perry County’s economy.

Puppy rescued by MDOT worker now available for adoption
JACKSON, Miss. — A puppy that was found badly injured on the side of a Mississippi highway is healing well and is now looking for a family to adopt him. Mississippi Department of Transportation Maintenance Tech David Walker was working on State Route 72 in Burnsville recently when he found the puppy, which was near another puppy that was found deceased. The surviving puppy had two broken hind legs and other injuries.

MOLINE, Ill. — Back in 2018, storm chaser and Northern Illinois University professor Dr. Victor Gensini published a groundbreaking study on tornado patterns. He looked at tornado data from 1979 to 2017, examining trends on where tornadoes touched down and the location of certain ingredients that promote their development. Gensini found a marked eastward migration of the typical "tornado alley" many of us think of.
West TN Drug Coalition’s regional overdose training helps save lives
JACKSON, Tenn. — The West Tennessee Drug Coalition visited the Jackson Exchange Club Tuesday to provide information on the opioid overdose crisis in the state. Most recent data from the CDC and Tennessee Department of Health shows from 2012 to 2021 more than 19,000 Tennesseans have died of a drug overdose, which is enough to completely fill up the FedEx forum.
