(Council Bluffs, IA) – Marcela Bueno has officially been named an assistant coach to the Iowa Western Women’s Soccer program for the 2024 season. She will join alongside Head Coach Adam Sanchez.

Bueno comes to the Reivers staff after two years as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Central Arkansas where she helped the Bears finish second in the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2023. She formally played at NJCAA DI Ranger College and earned First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Academic Team honors. The Brazil native then transferred to Central Baptist College in 2018 during her junior year to be named MVP and was the Player of the Week three times through the course of that season.

Head Coach Adam Sanchez stated, “I am so excited to have Marcela join the staff. Marcela has the experience, mentality, and quality to make a difference on our student-athletes and staff. This hire was all about our team this fall and what they will experience. She is a perfect fit for this upcoming group as she has experience at different levels and will be immense as we seek to connect with our team this fall. I am confident that Marcela will have an immediate and lasting impact on our team as we strive to build lasting relationships and reach our season goals.”

Bueno graduated from Central Baptist College with a degree in Sports Management and earned her master’s in Exercise Science from UCA.
