Get a piece of Hollywood on RAGBRAI as the route passes through these Iowa movie towns
This year’s RAGBRAI route may not be the Walk of Fame — but it will take on some Hollywood flavor in an Iowa sort of way. Cyclists will roll through Greenfield and Winterset, both having been the settings of major Hollywood movies. And if those cinematic ties weren’t enough, the route also goes through the birth town of one of Tinseltown’s biggest stars of all.
RAGBRAI to Make Way Through Greenfield Tomorrow
The biggest bicycling event for the state of Iowa is underway. Tomorrow, the bicyclists taking part in the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) will make their way through Adair County, with Greenfield being the midday stop. The route through Greenfield has changed since the city was originally chosen as a stop, allowing bicyclists to tour through areas that were in the path of the May 21st tornado that devastated a mile long stretch of the town in a minute.
Two Men Arrested on Assault Charges in Red Oak
(Red Oak) The Red Oak Police Department reports two arrests. Police arrested 34-year-old Kristopher Carl Friesenhahn of Red Oak on Sunday afternoon in the 800 block of N. 2nd Street on a charge of Simple Assault. Officers transported Friesenhahn to the Montgomery County Jail and held him on a $300 bond.
Repeat after me: Minnesota team takes second straight ShenDig
(Shenandoah) -- For the first time in its short history, Shenandoah's ShenDig Barbecue Competition dealt with inclement weather. And for the first time, the overall grand champion was a repeat winner: Hot Daddy's Barbecue, featuring the husband-and-wife team of Kyle and Amy Kuhns of Grasston, Minnesota, captured their second straight title in Saturday's competition. Oelwein couple seriously injured when three-wheeled motorcycle hit by car head-on
POSTVILLE, Iowa — An Oelwein couple is hospitalized after the three-wheeled motorbike they were riding was hit head-on by a car. It happened around 4:15pm Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Highways 18 and 52 west of Postville. The Alllamakee County Sheriff's Office says 31-yaer-old Mitchell Meyer of Dorchester swerved out of his lane to avoid a vehicle that had stopped to make a turn. OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Partly sunny skies this afternoon helped temperatures to warm back into the low 80s for most of the area, a little warmer than what we saw yesterday. Clouds bubbled up in the warmth of the afternoon, however most of the area did stay dry. A few isolated showers popped up in parts of western Iowa, but those showers should fade away by 7pm as we start to cool off. Temperatures will drop back into the 70s after sunset, and we should see temperatures in the 60s once again overnight. Just like we saw early on Sunday, some patchy fog is likely late tonight and early on Monday.
