Phillip Lammonds is a veteran songwriter, and throughout his career, he has worked with the likes of Hootie & The Blowfish, Kip Moore, and even a co-write with actor Bill Murray.

He released his debut album last April, and shortly afterwards, he made his Grand Ole Opry debut. Joining him on the stage was his good friend Pam Tillis, in an emotional performance to officially cement his legacy in the music industry.

Along his journey, Lammonds also made many connections with fellow singers and songwriters like Lee Brice. Brice surprised him on stage with a tribute video, making the experience even more meaningful for Lammonds.

Lammonds expressed his gratitude in an exclusive interview when reminiscing on the year he has had.

"You don't do this on your own," said Lammonds. "In fact, no one will even tell me how I got on the list for consideration for the Grand Ole Opry."

He recounts just how amazing his support has been, and it took him back to how he got into song writing in the first place. Having been raised as a fisherman, Lammonds likened song writing to fishing, making this his biggest motivation to keep on keeping on.

"Songs are nothing but fish; you catch one every now and then," Lammonds said.

He put his head down and worked, and it has finally paid off in every way that he could've imagined. Lammonds' newest single apart from his new album, 'Cowboy Things,' drops September 6, and represents everything Lammonds is and what he has worked for.

The single is titled "Why Don't Dogs," and it is the prime example of what Lammonds does best. The string work combined with his soft, country drawl paints the picture of all that Lammonds has done throughout his life. He drives the point home that the peers you are around really sculpt who you are and what you can do.

Lammonds found his story, and he doesn't regret the path that led him to where he is today. "We all have a story, and we all need to find it," reassures Lammonds. His drive and determination is something he wants to share with people of all ages.

We can all take something away from Phillip Lammonds, and his new album will surely help us get there. Lammonds plans to drop another stand-alone single in the Fall following "Why Don't Dogs." This whirlwind year for Lammonds is just the start for him. He will appear on stage performing his original work, as well as opening up for some of his good friends.

His tour continues September 6 along with his single release, and his music can be streamed from wherever you find your music.
