The Cambridge-Isanti softball team will enter section play on a high after putting together a turn-around season.

The Bluejackets have won three of their last four games after posting a 2-1 record last week.

The week began with a 1-0 win at Sartell on Monday, May 13, followed by a 5-4 loss at North Branch in the team’s Mississippi 8 final the next day. C-I closed the regular season with a 3-1 home victory over Duluth East on Friday, May 17.

Those are the Bluejackets’ best marks in nearly a decade. At this point C-I has earned the most wins and the most Mississippi 8 wins since the 2016 squad went 12-10 overall and was 9-4 in conference action.

Cambridge-Isanti is the No. 5 seed in the section tournament and was scheduled to open with a contest at Anoka High School on Wednesday, May 22, that was not completed at press time.

With a win, the Bluejackets would advance in the winners bracket to play top-seeded Forest Lake on Saturday, May 25, starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Sand Creek Athletic Complex.

If C-I lost to the Tornadoes, it would play in the losers bracket at the same date, time and site against an opponent to be determined.
