North Branch to extend offers for 2 open positions

North Branch City Council looked to fill two open positions following a special meeting held Thursday, Sept. 26.

The council made a motion to extend a conditional offer to Matthew Hill, currently the city administrator for the city of Crosby, Minnesota, to fill North Branch's open city administrator position.

Council asked city staff to negotiate a formal contract for consideration by the council at its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

North Branch has not had a permanent city administrator since Renae Fry stepped down from that position on Dec. 15, 2023.

Council also made a motion to offer Nathan Sondrol the Community Development Director position. Sondrol currently serves as North Branch's GIS/Parks Specialist, so council took steps to start the process to hire a replacement for Sondrol in that position.

Sondrol's formal offer letter will also be on the Oct. 8 council agenda for finalization.

If approved, Sondrol will take over as community development director for Jason Ziemer, who left that position in June of this year.

Ziemer also had served as interim city administrator following Fry's departure.
