Santa Ana: Elderly Man Arrested After Fatally Shooting Wife

06.23.2024 | 11:53 PM | SANTA ANA – A 70-year-old woman was shot to death by her husband in a domestic violence incident, late Sunday night.

The husband, identified as 85-year-old John Awad Kort, of Santa Ana, called police around 11:53 PM to report that he shot his wife inside their home in the 2300 block of North Towner Street.

When authorities arrived they located his wife, 70-year-old Nancy Nayfeh Kort, of Santa Ana, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her upper torso. Despite lifesaving measures, Nancy Kort was pronounced deceased on scene.

Detectives subsequently arrested John Awad Kort on suspicion of murder and learned that the incident appears to have stemmed from a domestic violence altercation between the couple.
