Want to own a piece of Somerset County history?

It will only cost you $14 million.

Ellistan, a Peapack-Gladstone equestrian estate with nine bedrooms and nine bathrooms, is for sale for $14 million for the first time in 40 years.

The landmark estate on 77 acres has hosted the Essex Fox Hounds Thanksgiving Day Meet since the early 1930s, shortly after it was designed by noted architect Musgrave Hyde for Francis Edgar Johnson and his family in 1931. It's only been owned by three families since its inception.

The Norman-style, locally-quarried stone home is on an estate with a 10-stall horse stable with three apartments, multiple garages and workshops, a three-bedroom guest cottage with a four-stall barn, a stocked pond, pool and tennis court.

With an indoor-outdoor ambiance, the home includes oversized windows with views of the surrounding acreage, a library with a wet bar, a drawing room, a sauna and exercise room,

Ellistan is listed by Ashley Christus of Turpin Realtors. But sorry – it's being shown by appointment only, with a financial reference letter, so these photos will have to do.
