WOOLWICH — A portion of Kings Highway (Gloucester County Route 620) here will be closed this week for improvements to a railroad crossing, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The street will be closed in both directions between Ogden and Woodstown roads, although local access will be granted. Work will be going on from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, May 20 through Friday, May 24.

The department is rebuilding the crossing and its approaches. The federally funded project is meant to provide smoother passage.

The detours to the closed area are as follows.

Northbound motorists on Kings Highway will turn right onto eastbound Oldmans Creek Road (CR602); turn left onto northbound Woodstown Road; and back to Kings Highway.

Southbound motorists on Kings Highway will exit onto Woodstown Road southbound at the traffic circle; turn right onto Oldmans Creek Road westbound; and back onto Kings Highway.

The timing of the work may change. Check for updates at www.51nj.org.
