On Tuesday night, Danville City Council voted for the city to participate in the proposed settlement of opioid-related claims against Kroger Co. The settlement requires Kroger Co. to pay over a billion dollars to abate the opioid epidemic. Of this amount, approximately $1.2 billion will be used by participating states and subdivisions to remediate and abate the impacts of the opioid crisis.

New addition to Food Bank Facility in Tasley now in planning stages
The Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore is hoping to construct a new facility on the property in Tasley. Stephanie Cuffee from the Food Bank says the project ,which is in the early planning stages, would have a significant impact on the community. Cuffee says that the Food Bank is working with the Department of Housing and Community Development in Accomack County to secure a planning grant which will be crucial to building a new facility next to the original building.
