Zion Lutheran Church to host 10th annual Grace Day
The Jefferson County Lutheran Churches group will hold its 10th annual Grace Day on Saturday, Aug. 3, at Zion Lutheran Church, 9700 Zion Lutheran Church Road, in Hillsboro. The event, which will be held from 8 a.m. to noon, is aimed at helping families with children in kindergarten through grade 12 as they get ready to start a new school year.

SLPS superintendent placed on temporary leave of absence after board holds closed-session meeting
ST. LOUIS — The superintendent of Saint Louis Pubic Schools was placed on a temporary leave of absence by the district's board of education. In a statement, the board said Superintendent Keisha Scarlett was placed on leave, and Deputy Superintendent Millicent Borishade will be acting superintendent. The statement did not provide a reason for the change.

CALVERTON PARK, Mo. — The city of Calverton Park's police force will be absorbed by the neighboring Florissant Police Department next month, officials confirmed Friday. The city held an emergency council meeting Friday afternoon, voting 4-0 to allow the Florissant Police Department to take over the city's police department starting Aug. 1.

SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. — An owner of Chic's N Dix HonkyTonk & Saloon unexpectedly passed away at the establishment Wednesday afternoon. Sunrise Beach police officers responded to a medical call at 3:33 p.m., July 24, and found 56-year-old Rick Griffin unconscious inside the building. Unfortunately, he died on scene.
