Kennedy football sends pair to Shrine All-Star game
Recent Kennedy High School graduates Isaac Berning and Elijah Traeger will compete in the 72nd annual Oregon East-West Shrine All-Star Game on Saturday, July 27, at 7 p.m. at Baker High School. The two former first-team all-league selections will suit up for the West team. Although wildfires are currently active in Baker County and nearby Malheur County, the competition is still slated to continue, with the organization confirming scheduled events on Facebook Thursday morning, emphasizing that heat and smoke protocols will be enforced if needed. Berning and Traeger will enjoy three days filled with festivities, highlighted by a BBQ dinner, community parade, a silent and live auction, a pageant, and, of course, the main event football game. The game will be live-streamed by the EOA TV Network, notably on their YouTube and Facebook pages.

Walla Walla County Fire District 8 staying busy this wildfire season
WALLA WALLA, Wash.-Fire crews with Walla Walla County Fire District 8 has been staying busy this fire season responding to fires within the county and assisting in Umatilla. District 8 firefighters assisted District 4 with a grass fire on Blue Creek Road on July 25 before heading to Umatilla to help with a fire on Powerline Road, according to the district.
Two teens arrested for armed robbery at Gresham Skate Park
Two teenagers were taken into custody Thursday evening, July 25, after an armed robbery at the Gresham Skate Park. Just before 9:30 p.m., Gresham officers responded to 911 calls reporting a robbery at gunpoint at the skate park, 49 S.E. Roberts Ave., adjacent to the Gresham Heroes Memorial and Main City Park.
