2034 Winter Olympics projected to generate $6.6B for Utah
On July 24, the International Olympic Committee will announce the host of the 2034 Winter Olympics. If Utah emerges as the winning host, global attention will refocus on the state’s pristine alpine slopes and world-class sporting facilities during Salt Lake City’s second round of hosting the Winter Games. With that attention, as reported by the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, will come major economic dividends.
More locals are visiting Utah ski areas
Ski Utah President and CEO Nathan Rafferty said one new trend is apparent when looking at visitor data for the state’s 15 ski resorts from winter 2023-2024. “We have seen just this last year an uptick in local visits,” Rafferty said. “There are two reasons. A lot of people are moving here to Utah, because of the great recreational opportunities. And then the sale of these multi-area passes. If you’ve got a pass in your pocket that’s good for multiple ski areas, you’re going to ski a ton.”

Utah teenager who disappeared in Mexico City found unharmed; FBI arrests her uncle
The American 14-year-old teenager who had disappeared in Mexico City last week, Elizabeth González, was found unharmed in another state, the FBI announced.
