New BYU Creamery on Ninth East Building
Brigham Young University announced plans to construct a new Creamery on Ninth building. The new building will be located on the west side of the parking lot of the current Creamery on Ninth. Families from near and far traveled to Vernal over the weekend for the thrill of girls softball. Tragically, one family that enjoyed the weekend of competition in Vernal suffered a fatal car crash on their journey back home to Mancos in southwest Colorado. The Hurst family includes Derick and Shay Hurst and their 6 children. The fatal car crash happened outside of Moab in which both Derick and Shay Hurst and their 3-month-old baby were killed. One son was airlifted to Salt Lake City and one was transported to an area hospital. A close family friend created a GoFundMe page to benefit the 5 children moving forward and to help with the expenses of the 3 funerals.
