    CCBOE adopts 2024-25 salary schedules, approves additional personnel

    The Covington County Board of Education adopted salary schedules for its employees and approved eight personnel matters during a regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, June 4.

    The board approved salary schedules for the 2024-2025 school year, effective July 1.

    “These will reflect the 2 percent statewide increase for all salaries,” Superintendent Shannon Driver said.

    The board approved the following personnel matters:

    Retirement

    • Christopher E. Morris as bus driver at Pleasant Home School retroactive to May 24

    Employment

    • Elissia B. Moore as lunchroom worker at Pleasant Home School effective at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, pending verification of new or existing background reviews
    • Bradley A. Folmar as elementary teacher at Pleasant Home School effective at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, pending verification of new or existing background reviews
    • Lisa Till as lunchroom worker at Straughn Middle School and Straughn High School effective at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, pending verification of new or existing background reviews
    • Lisa P. Hammett as lunchroom worker at Straughn Middle School and Straughn High School effective at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, pending verification of new or existing background reviews
    • Sally Lunsford as elementary teacher at W.S. Harlan Elementary School effective at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, pending verification of new or existing background reviews
    • Holly K. Majors as paraprofessional at W.S. Harlan Elementary School effective at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, pending verification of new or existing background reviews

    Transfer

    • Carrie Kime from intervention teacher at Straughn Middle School to math teacher at Straughn Elementary School effective at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year

    In other business:

    • The board approved to continue participation in the State Food Purchasing Program.
    • The board approved any school in the system to hold summer school.
    • The board approved the superintendent to approve and submit to the Alabama State Department of Education all required LEA plans to include transportation, professional development, technology, special education, at-risk, career/technical education, and federal programs. This item does not exclude all other plans to meet the requirements to promote improved educational opportunities and provide better schools.
    • The board approved the superintendent to apply for any federal or state funds or grants, to make amendments, and enter into contracts as necessary for the 2024-2025 school year.
    • The board approved any board member to attend any school-sponsored or school-related workshops during the 2024-2025 school year.
    • The board conducted whole board training as required by the School Board Governance Improvement Act after the meeting.

    The board tentatively set the next meeting date for Tuesday, June 25, 5:30 p.m., at the central office.
