COVINGTON, La. ( WGNO ) — Five teenagers were arrested following a police chase through Covington on July 12.

According to officers with the Covington Police Department, early that Friday morning, they attempted to pull over a vehicle seen driving without lights in a residential area, an alleged burglary tactic, near West 28th Avenue and North Tyler Street.

St. Tammany Parish residents advised to secure property following burglaries

Instead of pulling over, the driver reportedly sped off, leading officers on a chase onto Interstate 12 and Interstate 55, resulting in the Louisiana State Police and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office getting involved.

Officers said the vehicle eventually stopped on Wardline Road, but five people all wearing gloves and masks got out and ran away.
