Road in Covington temporarily closes, now open

UPDATE: PennDOT announced at 4:20 p.m. that Cherry Flats Road in Covington Township reopened.

COVINGTON, Pa. ( WETM ) — PennDOT is warning people to avoid Cherry Flats Road in Covington this afternoon.

According to PennDOT, Cherry Flats Road (Route 2018) is closed between Mack Road (Route 2020) and Miller Hill Road in Covington Township because of fire department activity as of just after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24.

A detour using local roads is in place, and motorists are advised to slow down, be alert, and expect travel delays when driving through the area.

PennDOT did not provide an estimated time for when the roadway will reopen. This story will be updated with any new information on the status of the road.
