WATCH: The Big 12’s best bet to end a Heisman Trophy drought
West Virginia has been very clear about this: It would not trade its quarterback for any other and believes others are overlooking Garrett Greene entering his final season. “There's been a lot of talk about Big 12 quarterbacks,” Mountaineer coach Neal Brown said on Wednesday at the conference’s media days. “You don't hear Garrett Greene mentioned. If you look at his numbers -- just put his numbers out there compared to other guys who are getting talked about and you hid their names -- his are really, really favorable."
It’s Time to Retire Pat White’s Number
Pat White checked a ton of boxes during his career at West Virginia. He won a bunch of games, led the Mountaineers to a pair of BCS wins over Georgia and Oklahoma, and set numerous records. He was also named the Big East Offensive Player of the Year in 2006 and 2007. The one box he didn't check? Being named an All-American. Somehow, someway, one of the nation's top quarterbacks at the time never reached All-American status and because of that, he is ineligible for the College Football Hall of Fame. Pretty wanky, don't you think? To make matter's worse,...

Rivers Nearing Mid-July Low Flow Levels Amidst Drought
WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The heat and dry weather are working in tandem to dry out the soil and the area rivers and streams. The river and stream levels are declining and an analog year to this summer is 1964. Rainfall was very scarce and temperatures actually cooler than average during that summer. What we are seeing this summer is that a bit more rain than the summer of 1964 was offset by much above average temperatures. The heat dries the soil readily, so it offsets the even drier summer we had in 1964.
