Troy, NY (WRGB) — Glenda Horn sent us this photo of an overturned 18-wheeler near Route 40 and Northern Drive in Troy. According to Troy Police, there are no injuries, the tractor trailer carrying rock material was the only vehicle involved and it tipped over onto it’s side.
Alumnus and television pioneer receives special honors
Member of the Class of 1954 and television pioneer Phil Beuth is being honored for his dedication to career and community. This fall, he will receive the inaugural Service to the Community Award from the Broadcasting + Cable Hall of Fame. And this summer, he was featured in the documentary, “WTEN-TV 70th Anniversary ... A Look Back,” for his role in the Albany (N.Y.) station’s beginnings.

Some New Yorkers may be eligible for a free air conditioner through New York's expanded Essential Plan program early next year. "As part of Governor Hochul's recently announced Extreme Heat Action Plan, the State's Essential Plan will add coverage for the purchase, delivery and installation of air conditioners for members with persistent asthma," the state Department of Health said. "While this program is currently under development, we intend to perform consumer and provider education and outreach so members know about the benefit."

A state of emergency has been declared for all of New York after several strong storms wreaked havoc across the state within the past week. Gov. Kathy Hochul made the announcement late Tuesday after the latest of the storms toppled church steeples and knocked out power for many residents in Rome. Nine tornadoes have been confirmed statewide so far as a result of the recent severe weather, with one of the most recent tearing through Canandaigua.
