Rock Rapids, Iowa — An Alvord man has been sentenced to probation in a vehicular homicide case. According to a press release from the Sioux County Attorney’s Office, 22-year-old Kaleb Richard DeBey of Alvord was sentenced Monday in Sioux County District Court for the crimes of Homicide By Vehicle – Reckless Driving, a Class C Felony; and two counts of Operating While Under the Influence, both Serious Misdemeanors.

Crews demolish Sioux City bridge
(ABC 6 News) — On Monday night, crews used explosives to demolish a rail bridge in Sioux City that had partially collapsed due to flooding this summer. The bridge spanned the Big Sioux River and has been a mainstay of that area for over 100 years. The bridge was also a major mode of transportation for BNSF, and the railroad has had to reroute shipments following the collapse.

One Woman Taken To Hospital After Monday Hospers Crash
Hospers, Iowa — One woman was taken to a hospital after a crash in Hospers on Monday, August 19. The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that just before 3:30 p.m., 61-year-old Cheryl Scholten of Alton was driving a 2016 Ford Flex southbound on Highway 60 on the east side of Hospers. They report that 26-year-old Hannah Sailor was driving a 2017 Kia Sportage eastbound on 400th Street. Sailor drove eastbound into the intersection at Highway 60 and the vehicles collided.
