Ballot drive for partisan municipal races kicks off
JONESBORO — A proposal to make Jonesboro municipal races partisan could be on the Nov. 5 general election ballot, with a petition drive underway on the issue. Craighead County GOP chairman Barry Eggers said a ballot initiative began Friday. Supporters must get around 3,800 signatures between now and late August in order to get the idea on the ballot.
Man accused of breaking into ex-girlfriend’s home
JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – A Marion man faces multiple charges after police said he broke into a home to find an ex-girlfriend after they had been arguing. Craighead County District Court Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause on Wednesday, July 3, to charge 34-year-old Justinian Marquette Smith with residential burglary, first-degree criminal mischief/property of another with a value of $1,000 or less, and third-degree assault on a family or household member/apprehension of immine.
Ribbon cutting to be held for recuperative care program
JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – A Jonesboro hospital system is working to help those recently discharged from the hospital who don’t have a place to go. St. Bernards will hold a ribbon cutting for its four-bed unit Recuperative Care Program at noon on Monday, July 8. It will be held at the Craighead County Regional Crisis Unit at 837 Willett Road.
