Hillsborough Police Host National Night Out Aug. 6 at Mountain View Park
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - Township Police will host a two-hour celebratory observance of National Night Out at Mountain View Park Aug. 6 beginning at 6 p.m. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. The first Night Out event was held in western Pennsylvania in 1980 and has since grown to thousands of locations in the US and communities around the world. Police: Elizabeth woman arrested in Guttenberg for kicking police officer
An Elizabeth woman was arrested in Guttenberg for kicking a police officer after authorities responded to a call of her being an unwanted guest in a home. On Sunday, July 14th, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the area of 68th Street and Madison Street on a report of an unwanted party in a residence, the department wrote in their police blotter.

Nor-Gwyn Gritty Hawks fall to Cranford in Ripken Championship game Friday night, but return home state champs
The Nor-Gwyn 9-and-under Gritty Hawks made it through the 2024 Cal Ripken Baseball Middle Atlantic Region Tournament last week in three of four successful bouts. The only team to hand them a loss in their tournament run was Cranford. The Gritty Hawks were determined during their championship game Friday night to triumph over the team that bested them in their quest, again.
Cranford Police Department's Youth Academy Was a Rousing Success
CRANFORD, NJ – Last week, Cranford Police Department hosted their annual Youth Academy which provides middle-school participants with hands-on exposure to various aspects of law enforcement. The Youth Academy offered 40 local Cranford cadets the unique opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement and gain valuable life skills along the way. “Our goal is to give these kids a real sense of what it means to be a police officer,” said Detective Ali Muhammad, organizer of this year’s academy. The program aims to foster positive relationships between police officers and young Cranford community residents while educating them about the realities of police work.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER To that end, cadets engaged in a variety of activities throughout the week, including physical fitness training; crime scene investigation; motor vehicle stop procedures; K-9 unit demonstrations; emergency vehicle operations; SWAT and Bomb Squad; breaching procedures; and taser training. Highlights of the week included the New Jersey State Police’s helicopter presentation and a visit from the U.S. Secret Service. The program also covered important topics such as drug awareness, internet safety, and bullying prevention given by CPD’s Juvenile Detectives and Investigation Bureau. NJ man dies a hero after rescuing children from dangerous river
HAMILTON (Atlantic) — A man who rescued two boys from a river Wednesday afternoon died several hours later. Township police said the boys, ages 8 and 12, went swimming in the Great Egg Harbor River at Weymouth Furnace County Park around 1 p.m. on July 17. Swimming is prohibited.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, Pa — The new owners of the Neshaminy Mall have big plans to shrink it down in order to help it survive. The one million square foot mall which open in 1968 has seen its vacancy rate decrease dramatically as many stores including anchors Macy's and Sears along with Modell's Sporting Goods, Footlocker restaurants in the food court closed their doors. The mall has just over 40 stores still open including Boscov's, an AMC theater and Barnes & Noble.
