CRANFORD, NJ – Brookside Place School principal, Michael Klimko, who was described by students as “empathetic,” “funny,” and “caring,” retired after 16 years, as well as another 17 years as a teacher. The PTA and student body made sure he would never be forgotten by surprising him with a “Mr. Klimko’s Place” street sign that was permanently installed on the blacktop.

BPS Student Council Treasurer, 5th grader Casey Wright, addressed the crowd of teachers and students gathered in his honor, saying “This sign will always remind us of all your contributions to BPS. Hopefully, this sign will help you find your way home to Brookside. . . Your legacy will remain in each and every one of us.”

PTA President Colleen Sutter was also on hand to send him off, saying, “Thank you for your countless sacrifices, for your tireless efforts, for sharing words of wisdom each and every morning on the announcements. And for knowing EVERY SINGLE student's name. We want you to know you truly have made a difference, and the legacy you leave behind will continue to inspire us for years to come. YOU WILL BE DEEPLY MISSED!!”
