    Cranford Pools Making a Splash This Summer

    CRANFORD, NJ – While the scorching hot July has led to an uptick in attendance at the Cranford pools, how are they doing compared to last year? Deputy Mayor Terrence Curran gave an update at the Township Committee meeting on July 9:

    • Membership has exceeded last year, with 2,334 memberships comprising 6,221 members.
    • The Cranford Recreation and Swim Utility sold 6,250 guest passes.
    • The new option to pay $45 for an all-day pass for nonmembers has generated more than $20,000.
    • At the midpoint of summer, the pools will offer a half-price membership option, which will generate more income.

    “We encourage people to come out and enjoy the pools,” said Curran. To that end, the Cranford Recreation and Parks Department has planned a number of fun new events to bring people in, including:

    - Foam Party on July 22 at Orange Avenue Pool where a mega foam blaster cannon will blast millions of tiny bubbles, creating a Foam Zone to play in.

    - Kayak in the Pool : People can try out kayaks in the pool and an instructor from Kayak East will provide tips on how to paddle forward, backward and make turns. The event is from 3:00-5:00 on July 30 at Orange Ave and July 31 at Centennial Ave.

    - Summer Concert Series at Orange Avenue Pool, with Triphammer coming on July 31 from 6:30-8:30.
