CRANFORD, NJ - Isabella Reibarkh created a PSA video as her Girl Scout Silver Award Project to bring awareness to TOPSoccer, an organization that works to provide soccer experience to people with diverse abilities.

Reibarkh, an eighth grader in Cranford and long-time Girl Scout, explains in her Silver Award video that she has always had a passion for soccer and wanted to share it with others. She utilized her volunteer position at TOPSoccer and her experience as a Girl Scout to contribute to her community and provide disabled and underprivileged children with a chance to succeed in soccer.

Reibarkh organized her Silver Award Project to have two main objectives. She wanted to help TOPSoccer receive more recognition, and she wanted to assist in providing soccer equipment to children from low-income households. Reibarkh worked to assemble a local event in June that brought young girls together to play soccer, eat snacks, do crafts, and became educated on TOPSoccer. She set up multiple stations with different activities, as well as a table with her Silver Award video and information on TOPSoccer.

Reibarkh also set up a station to collect second-hand soccer gear. Her soccer ball donations were given to the Boys and Girls Club of Newark and the gently used cleats/uniforms were donated to the Soccer Goals for Kids.

Reibarkh hopes that with her project, children with different ability levels and economic statuses can achieve the same opportunities and experiences that she had, and she hopes that these children can learn to foster the same love that she has for soccer.

Reibarkh also hoped her project would accomplish one more thing: “When I was thinking about my Silver Award project, I wanted to do something soccer related. Many young female athletes who are also Girl Scouts end up leaving the organization due to major time commitment to their respective sports. I wanted to let other Girl Scouts know that everything is possible, and they don't have to give up being Girl Scouts.” Any girls interested in Girl Scouts can learn more at their website: www.GirlScoutsofCranford.com
