Shore-access ruling; $1 million lottery winner; Johnson's Pond: Top stories this week
Here are some of The Providence Journal's most-read stories for the week of July 14, supported by your subscriptions. The remote-work revolution launched by the pandemic is raising concerns in Providence about the city's fiscal future, as many downtown office buildings remain largely uninhabited, except by security guards. Hence the debut full-length “Love In Short Paragraphs” from the Providence alt-funk act Grizzlies, which they self-released on June 28. There’s a soulful vibe being conveyed via the groovy rhythms courtesy of bassist Mikaela Villani, drummer Riley Smith and keyboardist Emily Iwuc while complimenting the excellent riffs from guitarist Josh Zenil and Cynthia Munrayos’ vocal delivery.
