PITTSBURG, Kan. — “A generational highway” that was the reaction of one Crawford County resident after attending the U.S. 69 highway study meeting in Pittsburg today. “Yeah, I think this is an interesting process that they’re doing, sharing with us information, and then gathering information from us,” said Belinda Brumfield, Crawford County resident.

Second Round of U.S. 69 Open Houses This Month
The Kansas Department of Transportation continues to seek input on the U.S. 69 Highway Study in Crawford County. KDOT is hosting a second round of open houses this month to follow up on the events held in May. Officials will get additional input and identify priorities about the current challenges and opportunities for the roadway. The public is invited to attend one of the four in-person open houses, which will take place at different locations along the study area. Each open house will have the same information, and while there will be no formal presentation, team members will be available to gather input and answer questions. A virtual open house will also take place. The events will take place in Pittsburg, Frontenac, and Arma. A full list of times, dates and locations is available below:

Three arrested after search warrant yields seizure of 1K fentanyl pills
PITTSBURG, Kan. (KOAM) - Today, June 26, 2024, the Pittsburg Police Department, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation conducted the execution of drug search warrants at four locations in Pittsburg.

On Wednesday morning, June 26, 2024, beginning at approximately 06:45 AM, law enforcement officers with the Pittsburg Police Department, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation executed drug search warrants at 405 W 5th Street, 506 W 4th Street, 2107 Timber Lane, and 512 W 4th Street. The search warrants stemmed from an investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine and counterfeit fentanyl pills. Upon execution of the search warrants several individuals were detained and evidence was collected.

PITTSBURG, Kan. — A Pittsburg teenager is arrested for sex crimes nine days after being released from custody on similar charges. Walter Lalimo, 19, is being held in the Crawford County Jail on a $7,500 bond. He’s accused of interfering with law enforcement and exposing himself to children.
