BONEYARD: 2024 MLB Draft is in the books
Coach Chris Lemonis and the Mississippi State baseball staff may be able to sleep a little easier these days. 18 of 20 members of the 2024 signing class are headed to campus. The two defections from the class that opted for pro ball are Dante Nori (Philadelphia, 1st Round) and Conrad Cason (Boston, 8th round). The rest of the group is either on campus or set to arrive in August.
Tadlock elected to the Board of Directors for District VI, 3A-4A for the MAC
Tony Tadlock has been elected to the Board of Directors for District VI, 3A-4A for the Mississippi Association of Coaches. This will be his second consecutive term. Tadlock, who is entering his eighth year as Raymond High School’s Head Basketball Coach, currently has a record of 192 wins and 41 losses. Under Tadlock’s leadership, the Rangers have played for seven straight state championships where they won a total of four, including the 2024 State Title. Tadlock also won a championship in 2017 which was his last season at Meridian High School.
Mississippi State University saves rare sea turtle
The turtle had its third successful visit for special care after a fishhook was lodged in his stomach. Toast Malone, a Kemp’s ridley sea turtle, has been successfully treated for specialized care at Mississippi State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine (MSU CVM). This turtle, among the world’s most endangered sea turtle species, received an endoscopy upon arrival where John Thomason, DVM, MS, DACVIM, identified and removed a fishhook from his stomach, saving his life.
