    Glenn, Pearson, Yancey take top honors

    Falls Lake Academy’s softball program took three of the top honors this season for the Super Six Conference. Wynterlee Glenn earned Pitcher of the Year honors. Reagan Yancey was named Player of the Year for the conference and Weston Pearson was named Coach of the Year for the Super Six Conference.

    Glenn, a freshman, earned top pitching honors for the conference. She worked 104.2 innings in the circle for Falls Lake. She pitched to 464 batters and struck out 149 or a little over one-third of the batters she faced.

    She allowed 102 hits and issued 19 walks during the season.

    Glenn was also named to the all conference team. She finished the season with a .435 batting average. She went to the plate 77 times during the season and finished with 30 hits including seven doubles, two triples and four home runs.

    Glenn finished the season with a .923 fielding percentage, recording 27 put outs and 21 assists.

    Reagan Yancey, a sophomore shortstop, earned Super Six Player of the Year honors for her all-around play this season.

    Yancey finished the season with a .465 batting average. She had 66 plate appearances and finished with 20 hits including five doubles, three triples and one home run.

    She had a .919 fielding percentage with 37 chances for a put out and 12 assists on outs.

    Weston Pearson was named softball Coach of the Year for the Super Six Conference. He led a very young team to a 14-9-1 record and took the team to the third round of the 1A state playoffs.

    In addition to Glenn and Yancey, Cameron Kendrick, Jolie Sensenig and Kayla Cash earned all-conference honors.

    Kendrick, a sophomore listed as a first baseman and a catcher, finished the season with a .449 batting average for the Firebirds. She had 86 plate appearances and had 35 hits including seven doubles and one triple.

    Kendrick’s fielding percentage as perfect, 1.000 with 203 total chances to get the other team out. She had 186 put outs and 17 assists on the season.

    Sensenig, a rising senior playing second and pitching for the Firebirds, had a .323 batting average. She went to bat 81 times and had 21 hits including eight doubles and one triple.

    Sensenig had a .939 fielding percentage. She had 33 opportunities to record outs for the Firebirds. She finished the season with 22 put out and nine assists.

    In the circle, Sensenig took on the role of the relief pitcher for Falls Lake Academy. She worked 26 innings and faced 139 batters. She allowed 48 hits, walked four and struck out 24 batters.

    Cash, a rising junior, rounded out the all conference honors for Falls Lake. She went to bat 72 times during the season and had 23 hits including three doubles.

    Cash finished the season with a .857 fielding percentage. She had 49 opportunities to get the other team out and she recorded 27 outs and 15 assists.

    Cora Cates and Khloe Massengill made the honorable mention list for the Super Six Conference.

    Cates, a rising senior outfielder, finished the season with a .338 batting average. She made 79 trips to the plate for the Firebirds. Cates had 24 hits including five doubles, two triples and two home runs.

    Cates finished the season with a .871 fielding percentage. She had the opportunity to get the other team out 31 times and recorded 25 outs and two assists.

    As a freshman, Massengill made the honorable mention list. She finished the season with a .300 batting average. Massengill went to the plate 76 times and had 18 hits including three doubles and one triple.

    Massengill’s fielding percentage was .707 for the season. She had the opportunity to get an out on the other team 41 times and had 12 outs and 17 assists.

    Falls Lake as a team had a .353 batting average and scored 174 runs. The team played 23 games and went to bat 710 times and had 213 hits with 46 doubles, 11 triples and seven home runs. The team drew 70 walks and players were hit by a pitch 28 times.

    Falls Lake had a .921 fielding percentage. The team had an opportunity to get the other team out 547 times and was able to get 403 outs.

    The Firebirds finished with a 14-9-1 overall record and 6-0 record in conference play.
