Gibson Fire burns near Silt
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - A brush fire took off Wednesday but is now near containment. Firefighters went to the scene of a two-acre brush fire near Gibson Gulch/Divide Creek. Crews with the Upper Colorado River Interagency Fire Management unit went to the scene and an aircraft was also ordered to assist with the job. Colorado River Fire and Rescue was also called in to help because of the fire burning close to private lands.

Denver's Indy Eve was a big draw Wednesday night at Civic Center Park with people celebrating the Fourth of July. It made for some firsts. "We've seen fireworks every year of our life. Edgewater Adopts Urban Forest Master Plan
The city of Edgewater cares about trees. Surveys conducted in the early phases of the Edgewater Urban Forest Master Plan process revealed that 96 percent of survey respondents strongly agreed that trees were important to them. During their June 4 meeting, the Edgewater City Council unanimously passed a resolution to adopt the master plan.
Lutheran Readies for Big Move, Name Change
The new Wheat Ridge hospital that opens in August will be very different than Lutheran Medical Center. It will even have a different — but familiar — name. Lutheran President Andrea Burch said the new facility will be called “Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital” instead of “medical center”.

Crashes involving impaired drivers are often deadly, according to data from the Colorado Department of Transportation. In the last five years in Colorado, 52% of all roadway fatalities during the Fourth of July holiday involved suspected impaired drivers.
