131st annual Sacred Heart Festival bringing out food, music and games on Sunday

The 131st annual Sacred Heart Festival will take place 11 a.m. -10 p.m. Sunday on the parish grounds at 5742 Ohio 61 S. between Crestline and Shelby.

The festival is the primary fundraiser for Sacred Heart School, a Roman Catholic school serving students pre-K through eighth grade that has been open since 1837. The highlight of the festival is the half chicken or ham dinners with homemade dressing and desserts.

The meal includes mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, roll and butter, pickled eggs and beets and a choice of applesauce or coleslaw. Coffee, iced tea or lemonade is included in the $12 adult meal. A small meal of a quarter chicken with all the trimmings is $10.

An air-conditioned dining hall will be available for those who wish to escape from the summer heat. A grill service and concessions will serve food throughout the day.

There will be entertainment for all ages. The kids’ tent will be open until 6 p.m. with an assortment of games. There will be horse-drawn wagon rides and live animal attractions.

Adults can enjoy an antique farm equipment display, farmer’s market, instant bingo, games of chance, hourly prize drawings, 50/50 raffles, MEGA raffles, reverse raffle with a $1,500 top prize, and a Bavarian Village open 1-10 p.m. featuring live entertainment.

Organizers say there will be plenty of shaded seating is available throughout the parish grounds along with ample freeparking.
