(Union Co) A Creston woman was injured in a car vs UTV accident in Union County Tuesday evening.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office says a 17-year-old female from Diagonal was driving a 2012 Volkswagen Passat south on Hi and Dry Road at around 6:42 p.m. and attempted to pass a 2024 Polaris UTV, driven by 24-year-old Alexis Baker of Creston. The teen did not realize that Baker was slowing down to turn left into a driveway. The UTV did not have functioning turn signals. The teen swerved to avoid colliding with the UTV, but was unable to avoid the collision. The Volkswagen clipped the front driver’s side tire of the UTV. The Volkswagen entered the east ditch and came to a stop. Baker was thrown from the UTV and sustained injuries to her head.

Baker was transported to Greater Regional Health by Medic 1 for non-incapacitating injuries.
