Buffalo County Fair kicks off with horse show
KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) -The first day of Buffalo County Fair started off with a 4-H horse show. The Buffalo County Fair in Kearney held their 4-H horse show with competitors of all ages ranging from eight to 18 years old on Wednesday. Participants have been preparing all summer long, practicing week in and week out for this show.
Hyannis Man Pleads Guilty to Federal Gun Charge as Part of Project Safe Neighborhoods
A Hyannis man admitted to a serious violation of federal law, owning up to being in possession of a firearm despite a criminal record that expressly forbid it. Ryan Diefenbach, a 33-year-old resident, entered his guilty plea on the count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

The Hall County Tobacco Free Coalition is teaming up with CHI Health St. Francis for a public presentation on the dangers of tobacco products. Bayard man sentenced for falsification of union financial reports
United States Attorney Susan Lehr announced that Donald Fox, 55, of Bayard, Nebraska, was sentenced on July 24, 2024 in federal court in Lincoln, Nebraska for four counts of falsification of annual financial reports filed by a labor union. Senior United States District Judge John M. Gerrard sentenced Fox to four years of probation. Fox will also have to serve five weekends in jail. Fox has also been ordered to pay $14,874.05 in restitution to the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 1836. Prior to sentencing, Fox paid $9,746.07 in restitution back to the union.
Hot and dry weather to end the month of July and will continue right into early August
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - There are no major changes to the forecast in the days ahead. We continue to see plenty of smoky haze ahead of us today. Along with the smoke, there is some dense fog over northeast portions of the Local4 viewing area. It’ll be another hot day as temperatures rise a bit more from yesterday. Highs will be up into the 90s. Triple digit heat is expected over Western and Northwestern Nebraska. South winds will be slightly stronger than recent days at 5 to 15 mph. Winds will be breezier across the area Friday through Sunday. Tomorrow will be slightly cooler, but highs will still be in the 90s. Saturday will be similar in the upper 80s and low to mid 90s. Temperatures start to come back up Sunday as highs get back into the 90s all across the area. Temperatures look similar on Monday. Hotter conditions will then come in to end the month of July with highs on Tuesday in the mid to upper 90s and lower 100s. Wednesday may be the hottest day in the mid 90s to mid 100s. Temperatures will come down slight into the first few days of August, but will still remain hot in the 90s and at times near 100.
