MARYLAND – A Texas man has pleaded guilty to international money laundering in a fraud scheme, which involved the Worcester County Treasurer’s Office. 42-year-old Jon Briceno of Katy, Texas, pleaded guilty on Friday to conspiracy to commit money laundering relating to his laundering of more than $8,751,523.07 in proceeds from various frauds.

A Landmark Reimagined: The Revival of Easton’s Waterfowl Building
Standing in front of the Waterfowl Building this past weekend started me thinking about how interesting it is to watch history evolve, listen for echoes of the past, and wonder about future possibilities. After all, this is an Easton landmark—the big castle-looking thing with the geese sculpture. Many still refer to it as ‘The Armory’ due to its prior life as the local home of the Maryland National Guard. However, in 1997, the building was transferred to the Waterfowl Festival and became the Waterfowl Building. Built in 1927, this sturdy structure is almost 100 years old, yet very little has changed. And that’s the problem—very little has changed. While some renovations have been done over the years, it is only now that the efforts have genuinely taken off. Thanks to the Waterfowl Festival’s leadership and local community support, its longevity just might have been extended.

Chincoteague Pony Beach Walk This Morning
The 99th annual Chincoteague pony swim will take place on Wednesday in Chincoteague. Over the weekend the south and north herds were rounded up and early this morning were taken on the annual beach walk on Assateague Island. Tomorrow the ponies will get vet checks before they swim the channel on Wednesday to Chincoteague. The Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company says the swim will take place during slack tide – between noon and 1pm. The pony auction begins at 8am Thursday at the Carnival Grounds in Chincoteague.

MILTON, DE - Authorities say a 19-year-old man has succumbed to his injuries following a shooting Monday morning. Delaware State Police say on July 22, around 4:47 a.m., troopers responded to the 14000 block of Collins Street for a report of a shooting. Trooper say they found a 19-year-old man that had been shot in the upper torso. The victim was reportedly taken by ambulance to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Capitol Heights Man Sentenced to 53 Months for $1.5 Million Pandemic Fraud and Firearm Offense
A Capitol Heights man has been handed a 53-month sentence for his involvement in a fraud scheme and illegal firearm possession. Stephawn Watson, 28, known as "O Dawg," received the sentence on July 18th after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a pandemic-related unemployment insurance fraud that swindled more than $1.5 million in Maryland and California. In addition to his prison term, U.S. District Judge Brendan A. Hurson ordered Watson to forfeit over $90,000 and to pay restitution of $2,094,319, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Maryland.
NJ man admits to decapitating seagull after it attempted to take fries from daughter: Affidavit
A South Jersey man is facing charges after authorities say he decapitated a seagull.Officers responded on July 6 to a report of animal cruelty at Morey's Piers located at 2501 Boardwalk Avenue.According to court documents obtained by Action News, Franklin Zeigler, 29, of Cape May, admitted to killing the seagull after it attempted to take french fries from his daughter.He then reportedly asked Morey's Piers staff for a trash bag while holding the dead seagull.Zeigler allegedly became irate and uncooperative with officers on an unrelated investigation, which led to his arrest on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.On July 18, he was charged with third-degree animal cruelty after officers obtained witness statements and photos, investigators said.He was released on a summons pending a future court date.If you have any information related to this case or any other criminal activities, please contact the North Wildwood Police Department Detective Division at (609) 522-2411.
