Throughout the month of June, for some Crisp County High School students, summer looked a little different as they immersed themselves into the First Annual Summer Pathfinders Program. The was developed to help students fine a Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) pathway that they could successfully completed before they graduate. This interactive camp was held each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the month of June.

It is important for students to have a clear understanding of each pathway offered at Crisp County High School and the courses that the students need to take to successfully complete the pathway that would benefit them the most post graduation.  Whether it is furthering their Education, Enrollment into the US Military, Employment, or Entrepreneurship.  Students received hands-on experience by seeing careers come to life, with each business that they toured.  Students were also able to build confidence by being able to start conversations with local experts in that particular field.

The Summer Pathfinders Program allowed students to take trips to local businesses in Cordele where they learned about career opportunities that are in their community. These trips allowed students to get a glimpse into the different industries or fields in the community that they may have not know about.  “With the support of local businesses volunteering their time to these high school students, the students were able to explore and experience a potential career path of their interest” explained Tara Shurley, CTAE Director.
