    Crivitz, Coleman baseball squads notch M&O Conference wins

    Crivitz 9, Wausaukee 2WAUSAUKEE — The Crivitz Wolverines used a four-run fourth inning to pull away from the Wausaukee Rangers and score a 9-2 victory in M&O Conference action on Tuesday.

    The teams traded runs in the first and third inning, but Crivitz took advantage of four walks in the fourth, scoring four runs on only two hits. Kory Calvert and Colten Tarmann kept the rally going with singles while all nine Wolverines came to the plate.

    Kaden Klaver and Calvert both singled and scored in the fifth inning to stretch the advantage to 8-2. Tegan Werner capped the scoring when he singled and scored in the seventh.

    Werner was 3-for-4 with a walk and four runs scored out of the leadoff spot for Crivitz. Calvert was 2-for-4 on the day. Logan Marvin went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

    Meanwhile Pierce Polomis picked up the win after allowing two runs on just one hit and four walks and striking out six in five innings of work.

    Werner worked the final two innings and surrendered no runs on one hit.

    Three Lakes 13, Lena 7LENA — The Lena Wildcats came out on the short end of a 13-7 score against Three Lakes on Tuesday.

    After surrendering two runs in the top of the first, Lena responded with three in the bottom of the first without benefit of a hit.

    Ty Shallow was hit by a pitch to lead off the rally. He stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. After Miller was hit by a pitch, the Wildcats used a double-steal to get on the board.

    Miller and Anthony Seefeldt, who drew a walk, both scored on a Three Lakes error.

    Three Lakes responded with five runs in the second, but Lena came right back with three more in the bottom of the inning again without recording a safety.

    Shallow drew a walk while Logan Court and Blake Bhenke reached on errors, and all three came around to score.

    Three Lakes continued to pour on the offense with two runs in the third, three in the fourth and one more in the sixth.

    Lena recorded its first hit in the fourth inning with a two-out single from Caleb Schlesser. The Wildcats got one more run in the sixth when Court reached via error and later scored.

    Miller was tagged with the loss after allowing seven runs, four earned, on one hit and six walks in two innings pitched.

    Milton picked up the win with four innings of relief work, allowing an unearned run on two hits.

    Niagara 2, Coleman 0 Coleman 1, STAA 0COLEMAN — The Coleman High School baseball team suffered its first loss of the season by a narrow 2-0 margin at Niagara on Monday.

    The Cougars came back on Tuesday to score a 1-0 win over St. Thomas Aquinas Academy.

    Niagara’s Mason Richtig came out on the winning side of a pitcher’s duel with Coleman’s Logan Kurth.

    Richtig tossed a complete game while scattering four innings and four walks and striking out three.

    Kurth overpowered the Niagara lineup with 15 strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work.

    The game was scoreless through five innings before Coleman’s lone error of the day left the door open in the sixth inning.

    Blake Holmes doubled and scored on a single from Mason Holmes. Gavin Pusick came on in relief and recorded the final out, but not before Niagara tacked on a second run.

    Dufeck went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Cougars while Pusick and Kollin Peters had hits as well.

    Kurth allowed just the one unearned run while striking out 15 in 5.2 innings in the tough-luck loss.

    The Cougars got another stellar pitching performance on Tuesday.This time Pusick tossed a one-hit shutout against the Cavaliers. The Coleman sophomore allowed only one hit and one walk while striking out eight.

    Meanwhile, STAA’s Jake Farley was nearly as good, allowing an unearned run on three hits and five walks and striking out seven in six innings pitched.

    The game’s lone run came in the third inning when Logan Lamine reached base and scored for the Cougars.
