Crivitz carves up Cavaliers; Coleman outlasts Lena

    2024-05-04

    Crivitz 14, STAA 4

CRIVITZ — The Crivitz baseball team got off to a fast start and finished strong in a 14-4 victory over Saint Thomas Aquinas Academy on Friday.

JJ Brand, Pierce Polomis and Jaxon Kroll all had RBIs as the Wolverines jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

Brand swatted the second of his three ribbies to score Tegan Werner and make it a 6-0 contest in the bottom of the second before Crivitz enjoyed a three-run showing in its half of the third to build a nine-run cushion.

Kroll crossed home plate on an error in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 10-0 game before the Cavaliers struck back with a four-run explosion in the top of the fifth behind RBIs from Jake Farley, Teagan Anderson and Henry Piasecki.

STAA’s rally ran out of steam soon after, as Dominic Tangquay and Braden Wozniak both went down on strikes before Farley flew out to centerfield to end the top of the sixth.

Crivitz polished off the win in the bottom of the frame after Werner tacked on a two-run double as part of a four-run outburst which ended the action via the 10-run mercy rule.

Werner was the winning pitcher with four hits, four unearned runs, four walks and five strikeouts in five innings of work.

Anderson was saddled with the loss after giving up six hits, six earned runs and two walks against four strikeouts over two innings pitched.

Crivitz out-hit STAA by an 11-4 margin. Each team committed four errors and left six runners stranded on base.

Anderson went 2-2 with a walk, a double, one run scored, an RBI and a stolen base.

Werner and Brand both collected three RBIs and tallied one stolen base.
