    Schramm, Wolverines shred Niagara

    2024-05-07

CRIVITZ — Jackson Schramm kept Niagara off-balance as the Crivitz High School baseball team breezed past the Badgers 11-1 in Marinette and Oconto Conference play on Monday.

Schramm was masterful on the mound, tossing five-and-two-third innings of one-hit ball, giving up just one run and five walks while fanning 13 Niagara batters in the process.

Crivitz (8-3 M&O, 9-7 overall) drew first blood after Tegan Werner scored on an error before Walter Laguna Herrera hit a sacrifice fly to score Logan Marvin and make it a 2-0 affair in the bottom of the first.

Tyler Wene added an RBI-single for the Wolverines in the bottom of the second, but it was the bottom of the fifth when Crivitz broke matters wide open thanks to a two-run double off the bat of Werner that made it an 8-0 game.

Easton Holmes got Niagara on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth with an RBI-single that brought Blake Holmes around to score, but Crivitz put the finishing touches on the afternoon in its half of the frame after Werner and Allard both scored on errors, while an RBI from Werner plated Laguna Herrera and gave the Wolverines the 10-run advantage they needed to end matters early.

Christian Hedmark was saddled with the loss on the mound after permitting three hits, six earned runs and six walks over four innings pitched.

Werner, Kaden Klaver and Wene were all perfect at the dish for the Wolverines’ offense.

Easton Holmes and Hedmark were responsible for the Badgers’ only base knocks of the day.
