A group of hikers needed rescuing in Sullivan County during the extreme heat wave that hit the Hudson Valley this month. If you missed it from June 18th through the 24th the Hudson Valley and New York State were hit with an extreme heatwave. Experts were calling it a heat dome. According to CNN, a heat dome is when air is trapped "in place and bake it with abundant sunshine for days on end, making each day hotter than the last."

The New Canaan Building Department has issued a permit to construct a 5,900-square-foot home on Old Studio Road. The six-bedroom house at 58 Old Studio Road will include seven full bathrooms, one half-bath, one fireplace, a three-car garage and unfinished basement and attic, according to the permit, issued May 9.

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced today the arrest of two individuals following an ongoing investigation into illegal firearms in Rockland County. In May 2024, the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office received information about an illegal firearm component being shipped to Nanuet, NY. Detectives from the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Investigations Unit, who are also Federal Task Force Officers with the United States Department of Homeland Security, immediately launched an investigation into the recipients of the shipment.

Late Afternoon Shooting in Haverstraw Results in One Fatality
The month of July got off to a scary start in the Town of Haverstraw. Late yesterday afternoon, Haverstraw Police were alerted to reports of "shots fired" at an area in town. Once reports for the shooting came in, law enforcement immidiately responded and rushed to the scene. Officers arrived to the area for the reported call, a location between Fairmount Ave and West Street and quickly went into action.
