Former Edna Athletic Director sentenced for having improper relationship with student

EDNA, Texas - Former Edna ISD Athletic Director Jerry Don Long has been convicted for having an improper relationship with a student.

The Jackson-County Herald Tribune reported that the former coach and educator agreed to a plea deal to serve four years of probation, have his teaching certificate permanently surrendered, and to have no contact with the victim or her relatives.

Long was hired in 2017 as the athletic director for Edna ISD. That came to an end in April 2019 following his resignation and arrest.
