VICTORIA, Texas - The former Mayor of Victoria Jeff Bauknight seeks to represent District 30 with a platform that extends beyond border security concerns.

While emphasizing the importance of border security, Bauknight also explained school choice and economic development are top priorities in his campaign.

Regarding school choice, Bauknight advocates for parental involvement and reduced regulations to improve educational outcomes. He highlights the need to expand options beyond private and charter schools to include specialized institutions like Divine School.

"There's also schools like Divine School that provide a fantastic service to children that are on the spectrum, so it could also help kids that need to get that specialized education," Jeff Bauknight said.

In terms of economic development, Bauknight described his focus to boost the local economy by supporting the district's farming community and improving port infrastructure to attract businesses and jobs.

"I would like to work on some legislation that would allow some proactive building at ports where we know economic development will occur, so that we can get those economic opportunities into the district," Jeff Bauknight said.

Bauknight's proposals aim to address long-term challenges and opportunities within the district. He plans to fight for The district's future growth and prosperity in the runoff race on May 28.
