    Cuero Mayor gets sworn in

CUERO, Texas - Emil Garza was officially sworn in office as the new mayor of Cuero on May 13.

Garza explained leadership comes naturally to him. He served in the Air Force for 32 years and worked as a former prison warden for 25 years. He expressed this experience gives him confidence in his ability to lead effectively.

Garza's deep roots in Cuero and his extensive travel experiences have led him to view his mayoral role as a full-circle moment. He expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received from the community.

"I'm honored. I'm born and raised in Cuero," Garza said. "I grew up about three blocks from City Hall right here, and I'm honored, ready and eager."

Garza encourages community engagement and transparency in local governance. He welcomes input from residents and urges them to reach out to their district council members with any concerns or suggestions.

"I want to be transparent with everything that goes on. No secrets. No secrets at all," Garza said.

One of Garza's immediate challenges will be tackling the city's budget. He emphasized the importance of making informed decisions about how taxpayer money is spent.

He believes that by working together with the city council and the community, they can overcome challenges and bring positive change to Cuero.
