    Calhoun County residents affected by May 13 storms can get help from Texas Workforce Commission

    AUSTIN, Texas - Disaster unemployment assistance is now available in Calhoun County after the storms there May 13.

    The Texas Workforce Commission is accepting applications from Calhoun County after it was added to the Presidential Disaster Declaration .

    Workers who are unable to work due to damage from the severe weather can apply for benefits online through unemployment benefit services or by calling TWC at 800-939-6631 between 7 A.M. and 6 P.M., Monday through Friday.

    Last Week, Calhoun County was hit by an EF-1 tornado with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph.

    Straight-line winds around 85 mph hit near Magnolia Beach.
