Heat ramping back up with slight rain chances

Monday's Weather Headline: The dangerous heat picks up later this week with head advisories still in effect now. Good news is rain chances hang on a little longer. Read on for more details.
What we're tracking: Sinking high pressure over us continues to be the driving force behind our hot summer weather. Dryer air from up above will be sinking forcing land heated air to remain at the surface bringing up our highs very slowly. This high complex will intensify going into the weekend with highs jumping back to the 100s for some. Before that, today and the next few days, rain chances remain a possibility with the stationary/stalled front still nearby. This boundary should be broken down by the time we get to the weekend which will get rid of our rain chances mostly. On Thursday, an upper level low coming off the Rockies will push into the Northeast over the weekend swinging an upper level boundary through the country that might bring rain chances up for Sunday and Monday of next week. Heat advisories are already in effect for some today and these will likely be extended for more throughout the week as temps rise and humidity remains high. Tropical details will be released in the coming hours so stay tuned later for more on what's going on in the Atlantic. Alert Days: <NONE>
Next 24 hours: Heat continues today and tomorrow, but not as hot as last week. Highs in between the low-upper 90s with northwestern counties receiving the brunt of the heat. Heat indices up to 110-112 will be possible for some today, prompting Heat Advisories to be issued. Rain chances at 20% today for perhaps a few spotty showers in the late morning through the mid afternoon. Chances bump up to 40% tomorrow for scattered non-severe thunderstorms possible.
Extended forecast: Highs very gradually rise for the rest of the week as rain chances mostly cut off and the Texas Sun comes back out. See below for your hot 7 Day Crossroads forecast!
