Friday's Weather Headline: It's hot, obviously. It's summer in Texas, but the heat is only going to ramp up the next few days... Read on for more details.

    Friday's Future Heat Indices

What we're tracking: Unfortunately, the heat we've been experiencing is about to get worse over the coming days. A new upper level high pressure ridge will exit the Rockies this weekend and park itself over N Texas by Sunday. This will bring another heat wave to the Southern Plains with temps in the Crossroads hitting 100+ for most, while folks in parts of N Texas and Oklahoma will see air temps up to 105-110... In the Crossroads, Heat Advisories have been up all week for an average solid half of our counties due to heat indices reaching 110-114 for some. Heat Advisories will continue going into the weekend and likely next week too with more indices up to 110-113 for some. There is some possible good news though. An upper level low trough entering the Northeast Coast this weekend will swing a "cool front" south through the country possibly into Texas on Tuesday. This front will likely stall or dissipate nearby on Wednesday into Thursday, bringing possible rain chances and maybe a couple degrees drop in temps.

Next 24 hours: Weather today and tomorrow should be fairly similar to yesterday's but with slightly less rain chances. Chances for rain today and tomorrow at 10%, so enjoy the rain if you get lucky with a shower because otherwise, it's going to be hot long story short. Highs again between the low-upper 90s with the brunt of the heat found the more inland you go. Some in Karnes and Gonzales Counties could reach 100-101 degrees for an hour or so. Mostly cloudy skies in the mornings but dwindling to partly cloudy. Winds mostly light between 5-10 mph SSE. Heat Advisories are in effect until this evening for most south of Highway 59.

    Friday's Heat Advisories

Extended forecast: The heat only picks up the next several days. Stay cool, drink plenty of water, and know the signs of heat exhaustion. You know the summer drill in Texas. If you're going outside during daytime this weekend, allow yourself breaks and don't push yourself too hard. See below for your hot 7 Day Crossroads forecast!
