    Wednesday's Future Indices

What we're tracking: Upper level high pressure continues to be the driving force behind our very hot weather. Sinking dryer air from the upper atmosphere will force our humid Gulf air mass closer to the surface and same with the land heated air, keeping us very hot as this will allow temps to rise quickly even under high humidity. With very high air temps forecast for some in the Crossroads with some seeing extreme humidity, Alert Days have been issued for Wednesday and Thursday. The worst of the heat will be today Wednesday, although it will still be pretty hot tomorrow. Read below in the "Next 24 hours" section to see how hot it will get for you. There is good news though! Last weekend, the same time our high pressure ridge entered Texas, an upper level low trough entered the Northeast Coast and it will continue to remain there the next few days battering away at our high pressure with sheer. Over time, high pressure will either break down slightly overhead or the high will push northward, allowing for showers to pop up for some this weekend and going into next week. ALERT DAYS: Wednesday and Thursday for extreme heat and humidity.

    Alert Day Details

Next 24 hours: Weather today will be pretty similar to yesterday with highs ranging between the upper 90s to the mid/upper 100s. Northwestern counties including Karnes and Gonzales will receive the brunt of the heat seeing air temps between 105-108. Folks north of or along Highway 59 will see air temps between 100-105. Victoria County should reach between 101-103. However, it will be VERY humid in the background for all today. Heat indices as high as a blistering 117 are possible for some today, but most will see between 110-113 indices. Chances for rain today are at 10% for perhaps a shower or two this evening in our northwestern counties. Tomorrow, just a few clouds will start rolling through as well as the wind picking up just a couple mph, cooling us off a couple degrees.

    Wednesday's Future Highs

Extended forecast: Temps finally look to be on the downward trend for the rest of this week and into next week as high pressure breaks up overhead or pushes away. Also with less forcing high pressure, rain chances begin bumping up this weekend and starting off next week. See below for your 7 Day Crossroads forecast!
