Bloomington residents raise concerns over nonprofits effort to incorporate parts of the small town

Residents in Bloomington want answers on nonprofits plans to incorporate parts of the small town

BLOOMINGTON, Texas - A capacity crowd filled the room in Bloomington on Thursday night for a town hall to discuss a nonprofit’s proposal to incorporate parts of Bloomington as the Village of Bloomington. The nonprofit aimed to have the measure on the ballot this November, but the 13th Court of Appeals ruled the group had not met the requirements necessary for the Victoria County Commissioners Court to call for an election. Many people are concerned about the crooked draft map of incorporation that leaves out many areas of Bloomington.

During the meeting, many residents voiced their concerns about the nonprofit's plans.

Victoria County Judge Ben Zeller said despite the aggressive push to incorporate, the proposal lacked details on how the newly incorporated area would establish essential city services, such as water, fire protection, and police.
